UJS Maimonides Circle weekend

A weekend of the Maimonides Circle of the Hungarian Union of the Jewish Students  (UJS) in Balassagyarmat

 

   

The UJS Maimonides Circle organized a weekend, where all those, who were interested in it, could spend a weekend together. The program consited some sight-seeing, and also a quiz about jewish history. At the synagogue, historian Béla Majdán spoke about the jewish heritage of Balassagyarmat and its area. At the Madách Imre Dormitory Csaba Andor held a presentment about the Yiddish and Hebrew translation of the famous drama, "Tragedy of Man", and Gábor Schweitzer reflected upon the results of the census of 2001, and upon what it means to the Hungarian jewish community.  András Mogyoró spoke about the role of the synagogues in the jewish social life.
