Passover 2011

19. April 2011.

First time after a long period, a Community Seder was held on the 19th of April, 2011 in Balassagyarmat. After celebrating together Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah and Purim, we have organized the Passover Celebration for our Community with the aim of creating a tradition. We hope, it will be remembered for a long time. 15 adults and 5 children from 8 families were participated on the event, one family has arrived from Slovakia. The passover Seder meal was celebrated according to our traditions. Mrs. József Bauer, secretary of the Jewish Community did the most organizing work and her home-made matzah ball soup and the matzah cake of her daughter-in-law also contributed to the great success of the dinner. After finding the afikoman, the children have received gifts. Hereby we thank to the team of the local Pension, who provided a great environment. We hope, that the tradition will not be abandoned, and we would further expand the number of participants in the future and (depending on our financial possibilities) we could strengthen our local community.
